Frequently Asked Questions

Who is this quest for?

Anyone who wants to know more about Web 2.0 but isn't sure where to start! Week 1 explains what we mean by Web 2.0.

How long will it take to complete the quest?

If you follow the programme you will complete one task a week for 8 weeks. However, you can take as long or as short a time as you need. Everyone has a different learning pace. If you want to go into more detail, you can always use the Learning Guides on the College Moodle pages.

What do I have to do each week?

There is a wiki page (tutorial) for each week containing all the information you need to complete that week's task. You will usually be introduced to the topic of the week and then asked to explore it further. This might be through reading articles, exploring the site yourself or being encouraged to set up an account. You then need to record what you have learned in your own blog post (don't worry - this is covered in Week 2!).

How do I record my progress?

In Week 2 we cover the topic of blogging. You will set up your own blog that week and this will then become your record of learnging. You will be expected to write a post each time you complete a task and explain what you have achieved or answer a question asked in the task. It can also be used as a reflective diary of  your learning experience and record your thoughts about each task and the quest in general.

Will there be formal training classes for this?

In short - No. This is an online self directed and paced programme. You are encouraged to learn through exploration of each tool and to supplement your learning with the Learning Guides and of course by helping each other!

What happens if I am not in work that week?

You will be able to access this wiki from home or work, so feel free to do the tasks at home. If you miss a week - don't worry! You can then catch up when you return.

Who do I contact for help?

Your first point of call should be the Learning Guides. The next should be your colleagues that are taking part in the quest with you. You can leave comments or ask questions on the LibeRaCe weekly posts.

My question has not been answered here - who can I contact?

You can also leave a comment on any of the LibeRaCe quest posts.

I'm finding it hard to keep up, what should I do?

It can be difficult to find time during the day to work through the quest, but you don't have to do it all at once, 5-10 minutes a day should be enough. You can also do the quest online at home. This powerpoint might help to get you motivated!
